We are celebrating September with the three S’s here! School, Skillshare, & Shows! what?!
1. SCHOOL! My kids are in pre-school at the SAME TIME which means I get a few precious hours per week of productivity to focus on my art & patterns! hooray!
2. SKILLSHARE! I signed up for a really great Skillshare class by Joshua Davis called Programming Graphics: Introduction to Generative Art. Generative art is all about using programming to generate artwork that is algorithmically defined and created. In this project-based class, you’ll learn how to create your own series of patterns using generative art techniques and computer programming! It’s only $20 and if you use this link to sign up, I get credits toward taking another class!
Here’s one pattern I’ve made in class so far:
3. SHOWS! And finally for the third ‘S’, I am showing my ‘seed series’ of linocuts and paintings at Orange Regional Medical Center in an exhibit titled, Life Up Close: art inspired by science, featuring paintings, photographs, and sculptures created from the careful observation of life on a close-up level. The exhibit features original work by Michele Banks (Washington, DC), Jessica Beels (Washington, DC), Greg Dunn (Philadelphia, PA), Carol Flaitz (Newburgh, NY), Femi Ford (Warwick, NY), and a selection of photographs from Nikon’s Small World photomicrography competition, which showcases the beauty and complexity of life as seen through a light microscope.
On View: September 23 – November 1, Orange Regional Medical Center, 707 East Main Street, Middletown, NY 10940. Open daily from 8:00am to 8:00pm. Here are two linocuts that I’m showing which I will eventually add to my etsy shop:
Also exciting news that I’ve sold a pattern to a pet company and another to a private line through hunt+gather studio. Once I start finding my patterns on products I hope to be able to showcase them. I won’t be able to say “I designed this” but hopefully you will get the idea 😉
I’ve recently updated my Etsy shop and my Spoonflower shop with new products! Please visit my redesigned SHOP page to see where you can buy pillows, prints, iphone cases, fabric, wallpaper & more. Now back to some fun designing before my time is up!
Another S, Femi: Super!
thank you Bethania! Congratulations on your recent successes in the pattern world!
